PARKERSBURG W.Va. (WTAP) - The holidays can be a stressful time of year, even for our nation's veterans.
The local American Red Cross is hosting two workshops to help veterans cope with stress during the holiday season.
Veterans, and current serving members, can go with their families and talk to volunteers at the Red Cross on different ways to manage stress.
If Veterans are unable to attend the workshops, the families are still welcome to go, and they can relay a special message to their veteran when they get home.
"I'm sure that every family that attends will have a different takeaway," said Sharon Kesselring, Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Northwest West Virginia. "They'll be able to either react differently with them, or provide a different atmosphere in the home. Something that will help relieve that stress."
The first workshop is in Ritchie County at the Harrisville Women's Club meeting room on December 2 at 6 p.m., and supper will be provided.
The next workshop is in Wood County, at the American Red Cross office at 220 8th Street in Parkersburg. That workshop will begin at noon on December 3, and lunch will be provided.
