MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Well it's that time of the year again in Marietta when powerboat racing takes over the Ohio river.
If you have a need for speed and a love for summer time fun, there is none better than Marietta this weekend for the annual Riverfront Roar.
The 19th annual Riverfront Roar festival kicks off in Marietta for three days starting Friday.
The free event features live music, food vendors, fireworks (Saturday) and of course, professional powerboat races.
Festival officials say the weather is looking like it's going to be a great weekend.
"It's always great to welcome July with some boat racing," festival committee member Barry Mullen said. "You know the temperatures get warm and as expected and we love the event here because it showcases Marietta and what a great city it is. It's a great free event for folks so everyone can come and enjoy it."
Street closures begin Friday at noon on Front street as crews begin to set up.
