Route 7 work on land slippage to finish next month

MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - After a wet Spring back in 2018 many land slippages caused issues. Almost a year later one of the largest slips is almost done being cleaned up.
The slip on route 7 in Ohio in between Newport and Matamoras occurred in March of 2018 after weeks of heavy rain.
This impacted travel on the road bringing it down to one lane as crews cleared and stabilized the hillside.
Work on the road and the surrounding area is now expected to be finished in the coming weeks and is one of the last slips still being worked on from 2018.
Another larger slip occurred in Morgan County this year and has Ohio 376 closed as the road awaits work.
