BELMONT, W. Va. (WTAP) - STEAM Day is a now annual event at Pleasants County Middle School, that shows students how important topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are for future growth.
Over this past year, two "STEAM" labs were designed and placed in the middle of the school, and they are used specifically for projects related to STEAM Day.
Activities students participated in include Virtual Reality, 3-D printing, morse code, and many others.
Students have to work as teams in order to complete these projects, so they are learning how to collaborate in as much of a professional environment as possible.
"I believe that all these students are going to be looking at jobs in the 21st century," said Aaron Hickman, PCMS Principal. "We're taking 21st century educational skills and job skills, and we've developed our program based off of that. And plus, it's a way they can have a culmination of all their academic curriculum, and be able to work on it hands-on."
Stay tuned to WTAP News next week for STEAM Day to be featured on our "This is Home" feature on Friday, February 21.
