United States Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) says he will not support Betsy DeVos' nomination for U.S. Secretary of Education.

Brown says that DeVos has refused to answer multiple letters from Brown and his colleagues asking for answers regarding the $5.3 million in unpaid fines and penalties she owes Ohio taxpayers for breaking the law.

She spent million lobbying in Michigan in support of for-profit charter schools in Michigan, which have proven disastrous in states like Ohio.

"We have this charter school scandal in Ohio that's really hurt us and I don't want to see that get worse and under this Secretary of Education, it could very likely get worse. For her, it's about making the profit from public education and I just don't think she is suited to be head of this department," said Brown.

Brown says 90% of children in America are enrolled in public school.
