Sobriety checkpoint to be conducted on Route 47

PARKERSBURG W.Va. (WTAP) - The Parkersburg detachment of the West Virginia State Police will be conducting a Sobriety checkpoint in conjunction with the Commission on Drunk Driving on September 20, according to a press release from W.Va. State Police.

The checkpoint will begin at 6 p.m. and will continue until midnight.

It will be set up on Route 47 in front of the State Police detachment with an alternate site located on Route 14 in the Boaz community.

The goal is to deter impaired drivers, and educate the public on the dangers of driving while under the influence.
