"Spread the Vote" initiative works to obtain ID for West Virginians

PARKERSBURG W.Va, (WTAP)- Spread the Vote is a new organization to West Virginia whose purpose is to break down barriers in the way of those seeking to obtain different forms of ID and to educate and encourage those individuals on voting.

Project ID is a subset of the Spread the Vote initiative that ventures to find ways for individuals to obtain personal documents and ID’s.

The project’s state director spoke to the Parkersburg Rotary Monday afternoon.

“With Spread the Vote and Project ID, we are really centered on helping people obtain ID. That’s our big mission in addition to empowering and educating our clients on voting,” says Peshka Calloway of Spread the Vote.

The group estimated that 100,000 or more people in West Virginia are without ID.
