Rt. 2 in St. Marys back open after overnight mudslide

UPDATE: 3/30/18 6:48 A.M.

Pleasants County 911 center is reporting that all lanes of W.Va. Route 2 in St. Marys are now open after an early morning mudslide closed one northbound lane.


UDPATE: 3/30/18 4:03 A.M.

One lane of northbound Route 2 in St. Marys is now open after part of a hillside gave way overnight.

We have a reporter on the scene and will post more updates as they become available.


Overnight rains have caused the closure of Route 2 in St. Marys near Middle Island Creek Road due to a reported mudslide.

Wood County 911 received the call from the W.Va. Division of Highway around 2 a.m. Friday morning and says the road is closed indefinitely and could slide again before the morning commute.

There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the slide.
