ATHENS, Ohio A 24-year-old man is arrested and jailed after reportedly breaking into two businesses in Athens County.
According to the Athens County Sheriff's Office, Brady Dorton is charged with two counts of felony second degree burglary in the incidents which occurred on December 31 and January 6.
In the first incident, deputies say surveillance video shows Dorton wearing a mask as he broke into Lucky's Pizza in Albany. He reportedly took money from the cash register before leaving.
The second incident was reported at Red Men Lodge in Athens where deputies responded to an alarm activation and found someone had broken a window to enter the business. Surveillance footage showed the suspect had taken a Crown Royal bag containing number tabs before fleeing the scene in a red Monte Carlo.
On January 11, deputies located a red Monte Carlo on Depot Street in Albany that matched the suspect vehicle description. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to Dorton and he was arrested at his residence.
After Dorton allowed authorities to search the car, they located the mask used in the incident from Lucky’s Pizza, along with the Crown Royal
bag containing number tabs stolen from Red Men Lodge. Also located were multiple screw drivers, tire irons, and pry bars which can be seen in Dorton’s possession on surveillance videos.
Deputies say Dorton has previously been convicted of felony burglary and theft and is currently being supervised by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. He was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
