Tanker accident shuts down part of Carpenter Bridge

ST. MARYS, W.Va. (WTAP) - An accident Thursday night shuts down a part of the Carpenter Bridge in Pleasants County for over four hours.

The St. Marys Police Department says the crash involving a tanker happened on the West Virginia side of the bridge at WV Route 2.

The Pleasants County Office of Emergency Services said the roll over happened at 5:53 PM. Crews cleared the scene and bridge lanes were reopened at 10:30 PM.

Authorities say the Energy Transportation tanker from Bridgeport, W.Va. was possibly carrying crude oil.

It is unknown if anything spilled at this time.

There were no reported injuries.
