The 9th annual River Trails and Ales festival is back

By  |

MARIETTA, W.Va. The 9th annual River Trails and Ales festival is back in Marietta this weekend.

The festival has grown tremendously over the years. There are now more than 100 volunteers and 60 events on tap throughout the weekend.

The festival was started to highlight businesses and outdoor activities in the city of Marietta.

Now, thousands of people look forward to the festival every year and there is something for everyone to do.

"This weekend really focuses on our historic downtown and the activities that are kind of immediately adjacent to the downtown but the broader area within a 30 to 40 minute radius of downtown has a lot more to offer and if you have the time to stay a little longer there's definitely a lot more to explore," said Ryan Smith, co-founder and owner of Marietta Adventure.
