WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - The Washington County Career Center has been rated among the top vocational schools in Ohio.
The state grades schools to let people know how well they are doing in different categories. No vocational school in Ohio managed to outscore the career center on the mos-recent series of report cards, though two others tied the center's overall score.
According to the Ohio School Report Cards website, categories include graduation rate, achievement, career and post-secondary career readiness, as well as post-program outcomes.
The career center's administration is proud of its staff and students.
“Every one of our programs enables students, if they want to go, stay around the Mid-Ohio Valley, they can," Principal Mike Elliot said. "Go statewide, they can. They want to go out to the West coast or any large city, they can get those skills here at the career center.”
“And one thing I really want to make sure that the public understands is that our staff is very customer friendly, and our customers are our students,” Superintendent Dennis Blatt said.
The career center serves juniors and seniors in high school as well as adults. However, the report-card score was based soley on the high-school aspect.
