Thelma Scott turns 100
Saturday marked a special milestone for a Marietta woman.
Thelma Irene Scott celebrated her 100th birthday.
Thelma was born August 26th 1917, the youngest of 14 children.
She had eight children with her husband, Clyde. Six of them are still alive today.
She has 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Family members tell us she's a good hard working Christian, and especially known for her quilting.
"She has been an avid quilter through the years," said her daughter, Louise Scott Mahaney, "and we were just having her 93rd birthday party which was a quilt show and we highlighted quilts that she had made. We had 93 of her probably 300 quilts and at her 93rd party had over 400 people come"
Thelma made her first quilt when she was just 16 years old.
Her birthday celebration was held at the Soul's Harbor Baptist Church on route 26, just outside Marietta.
