This is Home: Babies born on New Year's Day in the Mid-Ohio Valley
Some people spent New Year's Eve at a party. Some spent it at home sleeping. These families were at the hospital waiting for their baby to be born.
“When we came into the hospital on Tuesday, we were wondering if we were going to have it on New Year’s Day and we did,” said Gavinn Tornes.
“We were excited just because it’s a good way to start out the New Year. Yeah, it was a surprise,” said Hannah Thomas.
Hannah Thomas and Trystan Taylor are Colt's proud parents. He was the third and last baby born on New Year's Day at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Grace Heiss gave birth earlier in the day. Her baby's name is Nathaniel James Tornes. His father is Gavinn Tornes.
“I just hope he grows up to follow the Lord,” said Grace.
Now let's meet the only baby born at WVU Medicine Camden Clark on New Year's Day.
Tyler Joseph Bourne made his grand entrance into the world at 4:22 p.m.
“His name comes from his cousin who passed away and Joseph comes from my dad," said Brenda Bourne, Tyler's mother.
The family was given a gift basket by the WVU Medicine Camden Clark Auxiliary. The group raises money throughout the year to buy this. Judy Ball has been a volunteer for 20 years.
“It’s just a gift and you know, they’re special. They had our first baby in Parkersburg, so we want to make them special and this is something we do every January,” said Ball.
2020 will be a big year for these families.
