PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Three Wood County deputies are honored for their lifesaving, and heroic efforts.

Deputy John Caleb Wetzell, Sgt. D.D. Matheny and Deputy Tasha Hewitt were given "Lifesaver" awards in a brief ceremony Monday morning.

Matheny and Hewett helped rescue and revive a six-year old girl during the May 5 fatal fire in Davisville.

Wetzel helped resuscitate a person who was thrown from a motorcycle in an accident September 29, 2018.

"This just shows you what your deputes do, above just going out and arresting bad guys," Sheriff Stephens said. "There's another part of their life."

Also Monday, Circuit Judge Jason Wharton gave the oath to Deputy Shana Modesitt.

Modesitt is a long-time member of the sheriff's department, who recently was promoted to sergeant.
