VIENNA, W.Va.-(WTAP) Each year, at the approach of Memorial Day weekend, softball teams from across West Virginia converge on Vienna's Jackson Park.
The annual state softball tournament brings not just teams, but dollars, into the city and the area, filling up motels and restaurants.
The mayor also says it's an opportunity to showcase Jackson Park, which has had some improvements during the past few years.
"We've done a lot of improvements over there with our new tennis facilities, and all of the things that go on with our softball program," says Mayor Randy Rapp. "We think it's a real high spot for the city."
Vienna has been hosting the tournament since the early 2000;'s.
It is scheduled to run through Thursday.
