Tractor trailer catches fire near I-77 weigh station

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WTAP) - Firefighters spent Thursday morning cleaning up after a tractor trailer loaded with cardboard caught fire just before 4 a.m. on Interstate 77.

Units from the Mineral Wells, East Wood and Lubeck volunteer fire departments responded to the fire near the I-77 northbound weigh station south of Mineral Wells.

Firefighters said the trailer was fully involved when they arrived.

Once the fire was under control, firefighters said they used special equipment provider by Pifer's Towing and Recovery to help empty the trailer's contents and locate hot spots.

Once the fire was out, firefighters said the contents of the trailer were moved to another truck.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
