VIENNA, W.Va.-(WTAP) Christmas parades take place Saturday morning in Vienna, and Saturday afternoon in Parkersburg.
And that means some traffic changes.
The Vienna parade begins at 11 A.M., and makes its way down Grand Central Avenue from 46th to 23rd street.
Police suggest during that time, motorists take Rosemar Road to Emerson Avenue if they're going to Parkersburg from Vienna.
Police will be along the parade route, and, among other things, they'll be looking for suspicious activity.
"We are required to be watchful and mindful of our surroundings and what's going on around us," says Vienna Police Chief Mike Pifer. "At those times, if we aren't directing traffic and standing around, we're observing crowds. It could be suspicious persons or vehicles along the parade route."
The downtown Parkersburg Christmas parade starts at 2 P.M., and covers Market Street from 19th Street to Government Square.
That means motorists on streets intersecting with Market Street will have to take alternate routes.
WTAP personalities will be among those taking part in both parades.
