CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - UPDATE 8/1/2019 9:53 P.M.

West Virginia State Police have released the names in the officer-involved shooting that happened Thursday morning.

Investigators are at the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Charleston, West Virginia. According to police, the man who died was Eric Toon. The female suspect who was shot is Taylor Quinn. The man taken into custody was Noah Sutherland.

It all happened after a motorcycle carrying the three people crashed into a cruiser.

After a short pursuit, police lost the motorcycle but ended up seeing them again.

Then, Toon confronted law enforcement with a gun. That's when he was shot and killed.

Quinn was also shot, but her injuries are not life-threatening. She was shot while running from police.

West Virginia State Police say officers fatally shot a person who confronted them with a firearm.

Police said the person who died was male and that a female suspect was also struck and suffered injuries that apparently aren't life-threatening. Another male suspect was taken into custody.

Police said in a news release that officers were responding to a domestic case Thursday in Charleston, and while investigating, two males crashed a motorcycle into a cruiser and fled the scene. Police pursued the motorcycle but encountered heavy traffic and returned to the original location.

The release said the suspects had also returned to the area, and that is when one of them confronted officers with a firearm, leading officers to discharge their weapons.
