PARKERSBURG, W. Va. The Ohio-West Virginia Baseball and Softball Umpires Association is looking for people who are interested in becoming a certified umpire.
Officials say, there is an umpire shortage all across the Mid-Ohio Valley, but specifically of high school certified umpires.
This opportunity is perfect for people who enjoy the game of baseball and working with the youth. This is a paid opportunity with schedule flexibility.
"You know its the great American game. So, come on out and be apart of it. I've been doing it for a long time, so I enjoy it, so hopefully we can get some new bodies out here this year," said Rex Foster, Ohio-West Virginia Baseball and Softball Umpire Association, president.
There will be free training classes later this month.
Baseball class training is on January 26th and softball training class will be January 27th.
For more information on classes or becoming an umpire, contact Rex Foster at 304-834-0272.
