United Way and Recovery Point team up with the Parkersburg Art Center

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. The Downtown Ambassadors is a program helping to revitalize some rundown buildings in downtown Parkersburg.

The program is through the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley and allows the people from Recovery Point to do beautification work in the community. The workers are in a transitional period of getting their life back on track and utilizing their skills to help the community.

"It's absolutely wonderful to them, they appreciate everything that these businesses have done for them, allowing them to actually feel human again," said Sara Hess, United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, special projects coordinator.

Jessie Siefert is the managing director of the Parkersburg Art Center and is thankful for the help.

"Having this crew of workers come in has just been a God send and I didn't know what to expect really from the Recovery Point volunteers through this ambassadors program," said Siefert, managing director. They have just been excellent workers, they are enthusiastic, kind, they're respectful, and they've just been doing a great job for us."

Local businesses interested in the help of the people from Recovery Point can contact Sara Hess at the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, (304)580-0570.
