LITTLE HOCKING OH, (WTAP)- Thomas Stahl’s art gallery honoring military veterans sits alongside Stahl’s Nursery in Little Hawking, Ohio.
Inside, the main exhibit, entitled "Grandma's Story", has over 100 paintings accompanied by poetry by Bob Welsh, depicting highlights of George H.W. Bush’s military career. Stahl had a friendship with the late president and his colleagues in the military and they were in communication in the last few weeks of his life.
“I talked to President Bush a couple times and one time I was very emotional. He started to cry when he saw some of my paintings and that made me sad, but it made me feel good that he understood the feelings that I put into my artwork,” explains Stahl.
The gallery held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, the day before the former president passed.
The exhibit, which is full of outstanding work and stories, is open for viewing every day. It is free to the public but donations are encouraged and accepted.
