VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) - Vienna City Council had its last meeting of 2019 on Thursday. One of the topics on the agenda was IT safety.
Wood County Schools was hit a few months ago by hackers. Its system was locked up, and it took some time to get things back in order.
Mayor Rapp says the council is looking into taking precautions to make its network more secure. Some of the ideas include a fiber-optic network. The kind of system would make it less vulnerable to attacks.
Also, the council is going to honor the Vienna Wildcats (1st and 2nd graders) for winning the championship. They were supposed to be there Thursday night, but were unable to make it. The football team will be honored at the next meet, on January 9th, 2020.
