Vietnam veterans plan reunion in Marietta this week

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A group made up of Vietnam War veterans and their families-some from our area-is holding a reunion later this week.

It's the Bravo Company 506th Infantry Regiment, for which this year is its 50th anniversary.

It honors veterans, family members, and the surviving family members of those who lost their lives in the years 1969-1970.

"We're expecting 100-120 people in Marietta and Williamstown over the next week," says member and Marietta resident Jim Waybright. "A lot of us will even be going to church on Sunday after several events in the communities between Williamstown and Marietta. But we fought together, we cried together, and now, we're trying to heal."

The group has met regularly-as often as several times a year-since it organized 20 years ago. It's the second reunion it has held in Marietta; the first being 10 years ago.

Several activities are planned between Thursday and Saturday, including a picnic Saturday afternoon.
