BUCKHANNON, W. Va. (WDTV) - Volunteers around North Central West Virginia lend a helping hand to host a special needs prom in Buckhannon on Saturday.
Dozens of volunteers used their talents to help a group of locals with special needs. The night began with hair and makeup at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Participants also had a chance to choose the dresses and suits they would wear at the dance. All of the clothing was donated throughout the years.
This is the third year this event takes place. This year participants enjoyed the glamour theme of Hollywood.
"I enjoy coming and getting to see everyone," said Tasha.
Volunteers say they want to continue this tradition after seeing others do the same.
"A couple of years ago, there was a student who was a special education major, and she had heard about the 'Tim Tebow: Night to Shine' and thought 'let's do something like that in Buckhannon,'" said Sarah Wilmoth.
