W. Va. Governor gives state employees long weekend

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice is giving state workers the day after Independence Day off.

The Republican governor on Wednesday announced that he's signed an executive order making Friday an official state holiday for public employees.

Justice says he wants people to enjoy the weekend by exploring the state.

In wake of this news, the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department will be closed Thursday and Friday to observe the Fourth of July holiday.

However, mayor Tom Joyce proclaimed that Parkersburg city offices will be open on Friday July 5.
