VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) - The WVU Medicine Camden Clark Foundation held its annual charity gala Saturday night.
The Parkersburg Country Club was transformed into a vintage circus theme for the "Under the Big Top" charity gala.
Each year, the proceeds benefit different hospital service lines.
This year, the money raised will go towards Camden Clark's cardiology fund, with a special emphasis on patient education, wellness, and chronic disease management.
“The heart is at the seat of the soul and you know once the heart stops it's kind of a done deal and so it's very important that people understand how the heart works what makes it work well and what kind of causes it to have problems such as cigarette use fast foods high cholesterol foods uncontrolled diabetes uncontrolled high blood pressure a sedentary lifestyles versus a very active lifestyle or a lifestyle where at a minimum where you're getting up and doing some walking some activities each day,” said Geoffrey Cousins, the chief of cardiac surgery at Camden.
Camden Clark is the only hospital in the region to be recognized the past two years by U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades for the treatment of heart failure.
