WVU Medicine Camden Clark offers scholarships for nursing and healthcare students

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - WVU Medicine Camden Clark is offering a total of $10,500 in scholarships for Mid-Ohio Valley college students enrolled in nursing or healthcare-related programs.

The Auxiliary of Camden Clark Medical Center is sponsoring three $2,500 Leo D. Carsner Memorial Scholarships, available to local healthcare or nursing students, and the Camden Clark Foundation is offering two $1,500 Nursing Scholarships, available to local nursing students.

To be eligible for a $2,500 Leo D. Carsner Memorial Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

Must live in the area serviced by Camden Clark Medical Center, which includes 11 counties in West Virginia and Ohio.

Must have completed one year of college at an accredited school or be in the final weeks of their first year.

Applicants will be judged on their scholastic ability, leadership attributes, potential contribution to the health care field, and financial need.

Applicants must provide their official transcript of grades, three letters of recommendation from instructors, supervisors or employers, and a personal essay to explain their career goals, knowledge and experience in their career field.

Applications for the Leo D. Carsner Memorial Scholarship are available in the Volunteer Service Department on the third floor of the hospital, at the Information desk in the main lobby of the hospital or online at www.camdenclark.org.

The application deadline is March 15, 2019, and applications must be submitted to CCMC Volunteer Services, 800 Garfield Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Winners will be announced by April 1, 2019, and the scholarships will be presented at the Annual Volunteer Luncheon on April 12, 2019.

This scholarship will be paid directly to the student's school, and is funded by Auxiliary projects.

To be eligible for a $1,500 Camden Clark Foundation Nursing Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

Live in the area served by Camden Clark Medical Center, which includes 11 counties in West Virginia and Ohio.

Provide written documentation of acceptance to a Registered Nurse program accredited by the National League of Nursing (NLN).

Be currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse program or have completed one year as a nursing student.

Use the Scholarship within the next academic year.

The application deadline for the Nursing Scholarship is April 12, 2019, and applications must be submitted to Camden Clark Foundation, P. O. Box 1834, Parkersburg, WV 26102.

Winners will be announced and awarded at the Annual Nursing Alumnae Luncheon on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
