W.Va. enjoys best employment numbers since 2008, Justice says
The employment rate in West Virginia is the highest it has been since 2008, Gov. Jim Justice announced in a news conference Monday morning,
According to Justice, 763,000 people are employed in the state and that number could increase by the end of the year. The addition of job-transition agents is projected to improve the numbers even further.
Counties with universities and the eastern panhandle are doing particularly well. Northern counties also boast high employment numbers.
Justice also said the Mountain State is No. 1 in the nation in gross-domestic-product growth. The state has the highest level of goods-producing jobs since 2008, and there have been large developments in tourism, health care, travel and professional services.
