UPDATE: Investigators identify Beverly man found dead in Muskingum River

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 5/18/2018, 2:11 P.M.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has identified Jess Dixon, 35, of Beverly, Ohio, as the man found dead in the Muskingum River on Thursday evening.

Dixon's body has been taken to the Montgomery County Coroner for a full autopsy to determine his cause of death.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says no foul play is suspected in the man's death, but the investigation continues.

At 5:15 P.M. Thursday, deputies received a call about a body floating in the Muskingum River on State Route 60 in Lowell, Ohio.

Deputies say it was the body of a man in his mid-thirties to early forties, with tattoos. He was wearing swim trunks and a watch.

Deputies say his body was floating south from Beverly toward the Devola Dam.

Investigators says it's too early to tell how long the man had been in the water.


UPDATE: 5/17/2018, 10:49 P.M.

Thursday night, a man's body was pulled out of the Muskingum River on State Route 60 in Lowell, Ohio.

A call came in at 5:15 P.M. Thursday about a body floating in the river.

Deputies say it was a man in his mid-thirties to early forties, with tattoos. He was wearing swim trunks and a watch.

Deputies say his body was floating south from Beverly toward the Devola Dam.

Investigators says it's too early to tell how long he’s been in the water.

The Washington County Sheriffs Office confirms a male body was found in the Muskingum River.

The body has not been recovered at this time.
