WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - Two Washington County fire departments extinguished a brush fire off State Route 550 late Wednesday afternoon.
Units from Warren and Barlow were dispatched to the Riggenbach Hill Road area off State Route 550 shortly before 5 p.m.
Authorites have not said yet what caused the fire or how much of an area has been burned.
Meanwhile, the spring fire season begins Friday in both Ohio and West Virginia.
The Ohio Division of Forestry prohibits outdoor open burning and prescribed fires between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. between March and November. This includes the burning of yard waste, trash, and debris, even in a proper burn barrel.
In West Virginia, open burning is prohibited between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. between March 1 and May 31 and between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31.
