Washington County soldier dies in motorcycle crash in Colorado

WASHINGTON COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - The body of an Army specialist killed in a recent motorcycle crash in Colorado is being returned to Washington County.

Christian Ward, 23, who grew up in Lowell, crashed his motorcycle on June 24 in Colorado Springs. He died on June 28. Police think Ward was speeding and lost control of the bike.

Ward joined the Army in 2015 and was stationed in Fort Carson.

His body is expected to arrive in Columbus on Thursday and be returned to Marietta later in the evening.

While in the Army, Ward received the National Defense Service medal and the Army Service ribbon.
