PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - West Virginia University Parkersburg kicked off their school year on Monday.

WVUP welcomed their students back with an updated student lounge and a Chick-fil-A lunch. Their old dining service is currently being changed.

Not only that, but WVUP managed to bump enrollment up by ten percent.

Ricky the Riverhawk and WVU President Chris Gilmer welcomed students in the new student lounge and told WTAP about some of the other updates around campus.

“We have a new robotics lab, we have a new courtyard that is being put together and a new led sign that will be going up at the main entrance, so there’s a whole lot of new stuff that our students are coming back to,” said Gilmer.

Gilmer says that WVUP has been working hard to work with students on moving the university forward, and doing what the students feel would improve their experience.
