West Virginia has been ranked as one of the most dangerous states to drive in but it may be for different reasons than you may think.

The website 247WallSt.com ranked West Virginia as the 8th most dangerous state to drive in in the United States.

Things such as the types of roads and fatality rates were taken into account when ranking states from best to worst.

More specifically here in Wood County, Sheriff Steve Stephens says that both the accident and fatality rate went up over the past year with over 1200 accidents and 11 fatalities.

While West Virginia had a lower amount of fatalities in 2018 compared to other states, the number of rural roads and the ratio of fatalities caused the state to be ranked higher.
