Williamstown Police arrest man wanted by US marshals

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Williamstown Police Department arrested Bryon E. Estep on federal conspiracy charges of wire and mail fraud at the Sunshine Lodge at approximately 3:38 a.m. Wednesday morning.

He's a 39-year-old man from Gallipolis, Ohio.

On November 5th, 2019, the Williamstown Police Department was contacted by the US Marshals Office who advised that Estep was possibly in the Williamstown/Marietta area. Additional information provided by federal authorities indicated that he had violent tendencies and that he may be in possession of a firearm.

The information was distributed to officers as well that he may be traveling in a black Ford Focus registered to a female acquaintance.

Sgt. Jerry Ruble of the Williamstown Police Department observed a vehicle matching the description of the possible suspect vehicle around 2:42 a.m. parked at the Sunshine Lodge. Further investigation verified that the vehicle located belonged to the female companion that federal authorities mentioned. Additional WPD Officers responded and were able to take him into custody in room 112 of the Sunshine Lodge without incident.

Estep was processed at the WPD and placed in the West Virginia Department of Corrections pending transfer of custody to the US Marshals service. Additional charges may be pending.
