MARIETTA, Oh.-(WTAP) A former Ohio first lady Thursday introduced the woman who hopes to be the next first lady.

Frances Strickland joined Peggy Cordray, wife of Democratic candidate for governor Richard Cordray, at stops in Marietta and Athens.

The two were discussing issues of importance to Ohio women.

Peggy Cordray says, in addition to running mate Betty Sutton, women will have a large presence in a Cordray administration.

"They are committed to having many women in the administration," Peggy Cordray says. "Rich in his career, and in his previous offices, has had lots of women, a majority of women, at every level, even the very top levels."

The two addressed the Washington County Democratic Women's luncheon, at VFW Post 5108.

Other items discussed included health care and equal pay for women.

Frances Strickland's husband, Ted Strickland, is a former U.S. congressman, who was Ohio governor from 2007 to 2011.
