HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. (NBC) - Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher provided an update on Wednesday night’s shootings. Here’s what we now know:
One person is dead and five people – including the shooter – were injured as a result of the rampage.
Fletcher identified the shooter as 45-year-old Michael Angelo McClanahan, of 89 Judge Drive, the address of the fatal shooting. The victim was 58-year-old Sandra Brown, the significant other of McClanahan. The two shared a child together.
Also injured during that shooting was 31-year-old Travis Choina. He was transported to a local hospital and then later transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to the sheriff.
Roughly 15 minutes later, McClanahan arrived along Clearview Street and allegedly shot a residence multiple times, with 53-year-old Catherine Podolak sustaining a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
Also injured during the shooting were Ronald Perrine and James Lloyd – the result of shrapnel caused by the shots fired at and into the residence.
One woman was killed and three people were injured in a series of shootings overnight in northern West Virginia.
Authorities said the woman, who's name hasn't been released, was fatally shot inside a home in Hancock County. The same gunmen then allegedly went to another home and shot and wounded a second woman.
A suspect, identified as white man in his 40s, was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, apparently after being shot by a local sheriff's deputy.
Two other people were hurt, but it's not clear how they were injured.
