Wood County man sentenced on child porn charges

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WTAP) - A man from Wood County is sentenced to federal prison for child porn.

James Miller was sentenced to 6 years in prison for transport and possession of child pornography. He's a 36-year-old man from Davisville. Following his release from prison, he will serve a 15-year term of supervised release.

He will be required to register as a sex offender. Miller was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to victims depicted in some of the videos of child pornography that he possessed.

Miller previously admitted that he had possessed hundreds of videos depicting prepubescent minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct that he had uploaded to a Dropbox account. Some of the videos depicted sadistic conduct, and many depicted minors who have been identified by law enforcement.

The West Virginia State Police, the Parkersburg Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr., presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Rada Herrald is handling the prosecution.
