Wood County Schools holds resource fair

PARKERSBURG, W. Va (WTAP) - Wood County Schools brought its early learning program and health services to right where families live.

School officials hosted a pre-K and kindergarten registration and resource fair at Homecrest Apartment complex near Franklin Elementary Tuesday.

The event helped young families register for school, get free health screenings and find other local resources on the spot for their children.

"It's hard for me to get to these doctors appointments and stuff, so this is amazing," school parent Kinyana Prince said, "like I said I got everything done in one sitting, so I think it's amazing."

"What we would like to do is come to the communities," Wood County early learning coordinator Melanie Cutright said, "and reach out to them and provide services that they need, get them enrolled for school kind of on their own turf."

Cutright added they hope to have more of these neighborhood resource events for other schools in the district.
