WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - Fire destroyed a farmhouse in rural Wood County Monday evening.
Volunteers firefighters from four departments were called to 243 Farm View Drive about 7:15 p.m. after the homeowner called 911 to report the blaze. It was fully involved when they arrived, authorities said..
The homeowner, Tim Dowler, said he was returning from working in a hayfield behind the home when he noticed smoke coming from the roof of the home.
Dowler said he grew up on his family's farm and has lived in the house with his wife for the past 25 years. He was the only one home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters from Blennerhassett, Lubeck, Mineral Wells and Washington Bottom remained on the scene for several hours. The American Red Cross also responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
911 dispatchers say firefighters are trying to put out a fire at a house on the 200 block of Farm View Drive in Lubeck.
