Maynard G. “Red” Snodgrass, 91, of Harrisville, died March 11, 2019 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1927 at Hazelgreen, WV, the son of the late William Francis and Lavina Summers Snodgrass.
Maynard graduated from Harrisville High School in 1946 and Salem College in 1950. He taught in four different one room schools and ended his teaching career at Harrisville Elementary with sixteen years. He then worked as an administrator at DHHR for 21 years. He was a member of Riddles Chapel Church. He was an avid WVU and local high school sports fan and was the voice of the Gators for 30+ years. He was a member of Harrisville Lodge #98 AF&AM and Harrisville Lodge #99 IOOF, Pennsboro Chapter #79 Knights Templer, a 50+ year member of Harrisville Lions Club and he enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Viola “Betty” Wright Snodgrass; sons, Gail Franklin Snodgrass (Patti), Terry Snodgrass (Debbie), Bryan K. Snodgrass (Mary Ann); daughters, Teresa Dawn Bumgardner (Rodney) and Leesa D. Snodgrass all of Harrisville; grandchildren, Chris Snodgrass, Brad Snodgrass, Amanda Workman (Jerrod), Shaun Snodgrass, Ryan Bumgardner, Rebecca Diaz (Osvaldo), Aaron Snodgrass (Hannah) and Alan Snodgrass (Samantha); great grandchildren, Madison Snodgrass, Presley Snodgrass, Wyatt Snodgrass, Tucker Snodgrass, Delaney Snodgrass, Braeden Workman, Abbagail Workman, Blair Workman, Brayden Bumgardner, Avalon Diaz, Porter Snodgrass, Elouise Snodgrass, and Holly Snodgrass.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Creston Snodgrass, William “Bump” Snodgrass and Robert “Bob” Snodgrass; half brothers, Harley Snodgrass, Elijah Snodgrass, Trevy Snodgrass and Clarence Snodgrass.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 15, 2019 at Raiguel Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Martin and Rev. Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.
