John Benjamin Sims, II, 67, of Washington, West Virginia, passed away April 10, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
He was born in Parkersburg, February 16, 1952, son of the late John Benjamin and Betty Joan Sindledecker Sims.
J.B. graduated Parkersburg South High School. He was accepted to West Virginia University on a gymnastic scholarship. He graduated with a degree in Forestry and a degree in Agriculture. He was a member of the Forestry Team, participating in many saw and ax competitions. JB was a farmer all of his life and was active with 4-H for many years as a member and then as a 4-H volunteer. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Belleville Lions Club. He will be remembered as a friendly and joking person, never meeting a stranger.
J.B. is survived by his wife of forty years, Victoria "Torie" Blair Sims, two children Wendy Sims of Cary, NC, Benjamin Sims (Lindsay) of Washington, three grandchildren, Mason Sims, Logan Sims, Brooke Sims, two sisters Joan Allen (Dave), Patricia Harris (William) and several nieces and nephew.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Mike Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 on Monday and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
