William Fred Kupfner, 73, of Walker passed away August 13, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born on July 18, 1946 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of the late Albert Paul and Susan Jane Townsend Kupfner .
Bill graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1965. He was a two-time State Wrestling Champion and played as center and place kicker for the Big Reds. Bill was recently inducted into the Big Reds Hall of Fame. He enjoyed sports, music and playing the guitar.
Bill had worked for Demuth/Brockway Glass for ten years, Kaiser Aluminum for sixteen years and taught at Wirt County High School for twelve years. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he was a member of the Praise and Worship team.
Bill is survived by his sons Phillip Kupfner (Carol) and Paul Kupfner (Missy); 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, three brothers Charlie, Eddie, Greg, three sisters Janie, Laura, Robin and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Linda Lee Bosley Kupfner.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Keith Hostutler officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 on Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
