On Monday, September 9, 2019, Haze McCoy, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 92.
He was born on August 26, 1927 to Hance and Sylvia McCoy in Enterprise, WV and grew up in Webster County, WV.
Haze served in the Korean war as a clerk in an Army medical evacuation hospital unit in Pusan. He worked as an accountant and office manager at the Union Insulating Company in Parkersburg.
He married Ruth McGlothlin and together they raised two sons and one daughter. He was a member of the liberty Street Church of God for many years where he was a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and hosted a men's fellowship group.
He had a passion for square dancing and doing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed playing games with his family and vacationing at the beach. He loved his loyal companion Max the golden retriever which kept him company for many years.
Surviving Haze is his three children David (Melissa) McCoy of Jefferson, MD, Debra McCoy Hathaway of Parkersburg and Bruce (Linda) McCoy of Vienna, six grandchildren, William Hathaway, Andrew Hathaway, Jessica McCoy, Shannon McCoy, Landon McCoy and Erin McCoy and one great grandson Adam Hathaway.
In addition to his parents, Haze was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, brothers Beverly, Brant Lee and Hartzel McCoy and sisters Rella Gaye Conger and Waveline Spittler.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Brian Harrell officiating.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 on Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
