Edward and Betty Wettengel were buried on October 25, 2019 in a private gravesite service conducted by the Rev. Lucia Oerter at Rockland cemetery.
It was Edward and Betty's wish to be buried together close to their late son, Steven F. Wettengel. Edward passed away on September 9, 2016 and Betty passed away on July 7, 2019. Both were cremeated at the time of their death.
Edward and Betty were married on February 29, 1952. They spent the majority of their married life in Belpre, Ohio. They had five children: Gerre Anne Barabas (Deceased), Edward F Wettengel, III, (Deceased infancy), Steven F. Wettengel, (Deceased). Carolyn M. (Randy) Hutchison and Susan J (Mike) Daugherty are their daughter's who survive. Grandchildren who survive are Angi (Todd) Reynolds Hunter, Heather (Jason) Bradford Jones, Kristin (Andrew) Daugherty, Jeffrey Wettengel, and Emily Wettengel. Great-grandchildren who survive are Gavin Hunter, Lennon Hunter, Cash Hunter, Emmitt Jones, and Evan Daugherty Laughlin.
Edward spent the majority of his professional career with Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood and retired from there as an Electrical Engineer. He was also a WWII veteran with the US Army as a parachute jumper. He was also described as a visionary who designed and built several apartment buildings and houses for his family and others.
Betty chose to be a homemaker and mother in which her family was her priority along with her love of God and church. Both her and Edward received much pleasure from their family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
