Mary Ellen Bennett, 81, of Mineral Wells, passed away January 13, 2020 at the Worthington Health Care following a battle with breast cancer.
She was born on May 14, 1938 in Grafton, WV the daughter of the late Rex Glenn and Effie Alberta Liston Weaver.
Mary enjoyed baking and was known to many as the "Pie Lady". She had been active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus where she had assisted with the fish fries for many years and enjoyed Bingo. Mary was also active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed bowling with the Wednesday Morning Handicap League at Emerson Lanes and also substituted on several other leagues as needed.
Mary is survived by her children Russell G. Bennett (Debra) of Crawfordsville, IN, Becky L. Watkins (James R.), Theresa M. Burdette (Tim), all of Mineral Wells, Charles A. Bennett of Dallas, TX, five grandchildren Andrea Ervin (Ben), Katelyn Board (Corey), Robyn Burdett, Ryan G. Bennett, Samantha Moore (Derek), five great grandchildren, Austyn, Jayden, and Lyndyn Ervin, Noah and Carter Board, two bonus grandchildren Jennifer Morrison (Rob), Heather Sands (Andy), three bonus great grandchildren Ashton Allen, Talbott and Sarah Sands and sister Elsie Cole of Winter Haven, FL
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Charles Bennett in 1995.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father John Rice officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 on Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with a prayer service at 7:30.
Memorial Contributions can be made to St Francis Xavier Catholic Church or the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department.
