Shirley Gorrell Huffman, 71, of Parkersburg passed away February 12, 2020 at Camden Clark Medical Center.

She was born March 11, 1948 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Orren B. and Katherine V. Miller Gorrell. She was a graduate of Harrisville High School in 1966 and played piano for over 65 years. Shirley was always there for people, helping them through hard times. She was called “The Card Lady” by many because she always gave cards to friends and family for all occasions. She loved to cook and to teach people to cook. She was loved and cherished by many and will be deeply missed.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Michael J. Sayre; two daughters, Carrie Huffman and Tracey Macher; three step-children, Michael Sayer, Jr., Tracey Williams and Heather Foggin; her grandchildren, Madalynn, Katherine, Kelsie, Chloe, Kaylee, Blake, Zach, Joseph, Ruby and Keyon; and a great-granddaughter, Kimberlyn Melissa and her parents, Tyler and Samantha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant child.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Kuppaswamy and staff, Dr. Gondalia and staff, Amedisys Hospice, especially to Donovan, Amanda, special daughter and nurse, Abby Davis and the Serenity nurses at CCMC for their dedication and care.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Pastor Janet Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Ellenboro Cemetery, Ritchie County. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
