Lula Mae Travis, 90, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2020.
Lula was born July 28, 1929, to the late Ezra and Blanch M. Flanigan Smith.
Lula graduated from Doddridge County High School in West Union,WV. She then attended West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV and Salem College in Salem, WV.
On March 30, 1952 she married Robert Lee Travis, who preceded her in death in 2015. They were married almost 63 years.
Lula taught school at Emmanuel Christian School, Pontiac, MI, Freedom Christian Academy, Belpre, OH and Heritage Christian Academy, Ravenswood, WV. She enjoyed the few years she taught, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother and she excelled at it. Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." Proverbs 31:28 "Her children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praiseth her."
Lula is survived by her children, Rebecca Travis of Parkersburg, WV, Robert Travis (Cheryl) of Clarksburg, WV, Rose Bradshaw (Ed) of Burlington, NC, and Rachelle Laing (Steve) of Ravenswood, WV; grandchildren, Joseph Travis (Elyse) of Port Republic, MD, Aaron Grace Lenhart (Jim) of Lusby, MD, Jonathan Bradshaw of Charleston, SC and Colt Laing, of Ravenswood, WV and 3 great grandchildren, James, Lilith and Rebecca Lenhart of Lusby, MD.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her baby girl, Martha Lee Travis, sister and brother-in-law Cleora and Elmer Richards and great grandson Landon Robert Bradshaw.
Lula Mae was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church, 913 Grandview Manor, Parkersburg, WV. Visitation will be at the church 10am-12pm, with the services beginning at 12pm, Saturday February 15th, 2020, with Pastor Joe Ward officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Quiet Dell, WV, on Monday February 17, at 10am.
