Floyd W. Collins 85, of Williamstown, West Virginia, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, at Camden Clark Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born June 6, 1934 in Pennsboro, West Virginia, the son of William and Cartha (Dotson) Collins.
Floyd graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1952 and was a proud member of the undefeated Pennsboro High School football team. He was an avid Williamstown Yellow Jacket and WVU Mountaineer sports fan. Floyd enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hunting and fishing with his friends. He was a proud member of the US Marine Corps and was employed by The River Gas Company for 40 years.
The Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department was a passion of Floyd's, one he enjoyed for over 40 years, retiring as Assistant Chief. He was a lifetime member of the Pennsboro Harmony Masonic Lodge #59, the Williamstown American Legion and Marietta Elks #477.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lee (Mahaney) Collins; daughter Pam and husband Dan Farrell, Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughter Penny and husband Jeff Power, Gurnee, Illinois; grandson Dr. Nick Higinbotham and fiance Katrina, Dearborn, Michigan; grandson Dr. Tony Higinbotham and fiance Alissa, Cleveland, Ohio; brother Neal and wife Lila Collins, Pennsboro, and several nieces and nephews. Floyd loved his family above all and was extremely proud of his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Jean and brother Lyndon (Lefty) Collins.
No funeral services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later undetermined date.
