WTAP SPORTS-- Week 12 of the high school fotball season finds West Virginia kicking off round 1 of the playoffs, while Ohio enters it's Regional semifinal stage.
The Parkersburg South Patriots pass their first Class AAA playoff test. The 4th seeded Patriots handle South Charleston 47-12. With the win South improves to 10-1 on the season.
In the other half of the backet. 12th seed Parkersburg falls on the road against 5th seeded Musselman. The Applemen best Big Reds 48-29. PHS closes out it's season at 5-6
In the Class A brackets. 5th seeded Williamstown opens up the playoffs with a 42-0 victory over 12th seeded Cameron. The Yellowjackets improve to 9-2 and await the winner of Saturday's game between Greenbrier West and 13th seed Tygarts Valley
6th seeded St. Marys also advances to the second round with a victory. The Blue Devils downed 11th seeded Cameron 51-28 with a great second half comeback St. Marys is now 9-2 on the season and travels to play third seeded Pendleton County next week .
The Ritchie County Rebels roll in their playoff opener. The second seeded Rebels power their way to a 40-6 victory over 15th seeded South Harrison. Ritchie is now 10-1 and will host the winner of Saturday's game between Tolsia and defending state champion Wheeling Central.
In Ohio, The Fort Frye Cadets run of perfection comes to an end in the Division VI Region 21 semifinals. Second seeded Mogadore defeats the Cadets 21 -14. Fort Frye wraps up it's season with an 11-1 record.
